Tuscarora Programs

WELCOME
The Tuscarora Environment Program [TEP] is a subsidiary of the Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force [HETF], established in 1992 by the Grand Council. The HETF is composed of delegates chosen by each of the Haudenosaunee Nations who are committed to identifying environmental problems in their communities and to work to find solutions to these problems.

The TEP opened its doors in 1997 with a director and one intern. Since then the office has tackled many issues and problems, providing solutions and education to the Tuscarora community.

Another Successful Summer

Native Earth Environmental Youth Camp

August 24, 2011 - This past August we saw another successful Native Earth Environmental Youth Camp at the SUNY-ESF Biological Station, Cranberry Lake, NY and at the Thompson Island Camp at Akwesasne, NY . The 2 week event was sponsored by SUNY Environment Science and Forestry, Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force, and Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Environment. It was also funded by the National Science Foundation.

We had three students from Tuscarora attend the camp - Nicholas Barcer, Owen Chapman and Jeremy Ditto. If you would like more information about the excursion please check out the article at www.hetf.org
